All that talk about Million $ Mano got me wanting to listen to some Cool Kids. Now if you don’t know who they are (hey Mikey) then please exit my blog. I am not meant to entertain the nonbelievers.

******COOL KIDS –88

“I grab a mic, I rock it from 9-5”

Lauryn hill–“I got to find Peace of Mind”

I can only speal for myself, but I do believe Lauryn Hill is a rare artist. I’ve seen this video a million and one times, but I still get emotional when she does. Her emotional is so raw. 2:17 speaks to me because that’s ecatly how I feel about a certain someone. Her music speaks to the heart, mind and soul. I don’t even have children but “Zion” makes me proud.

…Saturday is Valentines Day and I’m starting to think this song has become my personal theme song. Why I say that is not because I cheat in relationships (that’s the most hurtful thing you could do to a person in a relationship) but because simply put, I suck at them. Most girls go right but The Critic goes left, I say the things you shouldn’t say, I’d rather approach a Man as a friend rather than a love interest. I’m 19, and I give up.

I’m mellowed out and this song is forever a classic. To be honest, I’ve never liked Lenny Kravitz with dreads. If I smoked, I would def blaze to this and think about love, life and relationships. So if you smoke, take a puff for The Critic and pass the doobbie to the left side.

The weather is pretty nice were I’m at and that last post with all the blue-eyed soul had me itching for this song. Throwback from 2007 and this is when I feel in love with Robin Thicke. I tried to fight his ass with “Lost Without you” but I couldn’t deny my love for him too long.

Throwback: Kelis “Caught out there”

Posted in throwbacks, Video with tags , on January 21, 2009 by soicalcritic

Remember Kelis before she was a Beyonce-ish artist? Back when she had that colorful afro and wardrobe? “Caught out there” and “Get along with you” used to be my tracks! Then she went m.i.a only to return with “Milkshake”then went AWOL once more only to creep back in the spotlight looking like all gussied up and what not and gave the gay community a reason to bounce with their hand planted firmly on their hip with “Bossy”.Look, there isn’t anything wrong with changing lanes in a fashion sense but I prefer the old Kelis, before she was Mrs.Jones and got a perm.
