Keri Hilson stands in my comment section

Posted in Time to Criticize on April 14, 2009 by soicalcritic

Madison Square GardenNo need to get brolic with me, hell! I get truly frighten when I get an email informing  me that I have a comment. Now most (if not all) of my comments are on post about Chris Brown and Ms.Keri. Now I know that their are some die hard Keri Hilson fans out there lurking in Beyonce bashing chatrooms or blogs but for Oprah sake, calm your nerves! There is no sense in your rolling your neck in my comment section.

I just had to get that off my chest.

Time to Criticize: Grand Hustle Ent.

Posted in Time to Criticize on March 13, 2009 by soicalcritic

dj-drama-dro-ti

I can’t lie, I was for sure that with the bread winner heading to the big house, Grand Hustle was going to sulk in the corner until he was released. Then this hit the air waves:

And then Young Dro’s “Clean With It” hit the net. Maybe these cats can hold their own. But I can’t forget about T.I., this cat was been going hard for a minute now. As much as I love a good portion of New York’s rappers, I can’t stand 50 cent. Take some notes G-Unit. All your members should be able to carry his own sperm sample on his own but when the entire “posse” is together? Havoc should be reeked. Kudos Grand Hustle, glad to say, you’ve proven me wrong so far.

Emo Rappers: Explain XXL.

Posted in Time to Criticize with tags , on March 5, 2009 by soicalcritic

Kanye WestSo over at XXL, the staff posted an article titled “Emo Trippin“. As always, they just had to pick with Kanye West and his performance at the Youth Inaugural Ball. And of course they attempted to chop Kanye for his New Edition shag and his tuxedo. Okay XXL, why in the hell are you attempting to bash Kanye about being emo (Heartless, which, despite what they think, is a certified banger) but haven’t touched on Lil Wayne for this Prom Queen shit? This damn Tree Monkey (Superhead speak) really does think that his ass is a rockstar huh? I haven’t seen a article about how high school emo schoolboy Wayne sounds though.I leave you with this:

“And no matter what, you’ll never take that from me/ My reign is as far as my eye can see”–“Amazing”

beyonce and solo

Knowles sisters Beyonce and Solange Knowles put on their best sailor outfits and strike sexy poses in this new ad for Japanese handbag designer Samantha Thavasa

[Source]

I respect that Solange is attempting to do her own thing (we’ve all seen the flicks of her flipping the bird, if not Fresh posted them) but Jane Brady will always get the short end of the stick. Remember The Proud Family theme songthat feature Solange andDestiny’s Child? All I heard was Beyonce and the background crew. Then she made attempt at a singing career then got pregnant and married (in the order mind you) and blessed the world with this amazing flower child, Daniel. Then out of no where, I Decided was in my ear hole. And that’s about it.

Time to Criticize…

blackoutAnother blog. Now I hate to do this but this certain blog has taken it’s fan base and truly believes that it is in fact a brand name. The only blogs that I know that should have it’s logo or a catch phrase (clue #1) on a shirt are Fresh (Crunk+Disorderly), Necole Bitchie, The  Creole Pimp (Baby Daniel) and Perez Hilton(homeboy/girl is on tour with Britney Spears FYI). Now I have made many references to this blog and even posted numerouslinks to the blog itself (clue #2) but since this Chris and Rhianna circus has started, that’s all they chose to post! Also, they were the ring leader in this mess by proclaiming that Rhianna gave Chris an STD (clue #3). Last clue, back when I was Lamb Chop and The Urban Blogger was the best place to get an audience, this blog was often the topic of distaste in our forums.

Adji Desir

The world seems to stopped the day a small white child goes missing. Nancy Grace is still milking the death of Caylee on her show and Headline News is going apeshit over missing Haleigh Cummings. I truly do have sympathy fortheir families but ther are other missing other children.

“Adji Desir is one of those children. And this is his story. On January 20th, the 7-year-old went outside his grandmother’s house in Immokalee, Florida. He was going to play with other kids in the neighborhood. But Adji never returned home. He was last seen at around 5:30 in the afternoon.

The F.B.I. has classified Adji as a missing person. On the agency’s web site, it says he has special needs, limited vocabulary and speaks on the level of a two-year-old child. He apparently only understands Creole.”

New Beef

Posted in Time to Criticize with tags , on February 17, 2009 by soicalcritic

lily-allen2If your like me, your pass tried about hearing about this “beef” between Tits McGee (Rick Ross) and 50 Cent. I myself think that ish is scripted because 50 just needed a reason to stay in on our blogs and convos. Well move over, there’s a real catfight to talk about. The Queen of all Media (didn’t Wendy Williams already claim that title?), Perez Hilton and Lily Allen got some ground chuck to serve us.

Yes, for most of Monday (February 16), the two duked it out — 140 characters at a time — on the micro-blogging site after Perez wrote a post (er, “Tweet”) letting it be known that Allen was casting for her new video, and that he should be considered for a role in the clip.

The quick-witted Brit fired back — writing “Oh, I’m sorry, we’ve already cast the jealous and bitter lonely old queen role. Next time, eh?” on her Twitter page — and just like that, it was off and running.

“Jealous of who?” Hilton responded. “David Beckham, maybe. And if I wanted to be a f—ed up Brit, I’d rather be Amy Winehouse — whose [sic] got talent.”

The two then exchanged “you’re so obsessed” barbs, before Hilton decided to take the beef to the next level, taking a potshot at the sales of Allen’s just-released album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, which is selling at a low retail price.

“Congrats on your album doing well in America, though,” he wrote. “It’s REALLY HARD to sell copies when u discount it to $3.99. Desperate.”

“It’s also #1 everywhere else in the world, douchebag,” Allen replied. “Go away you little parasite.”

Hilton then tried to play nice — saying that both he and Allen were “big fat c—s,” and that’s why he loves her — then abruptly switched gears, getting catty about ads Allen’s label had purchased to run on his Web site.

I think this is funny and that Ms.Hilton is not to fucked with because once he gets behind a computer screen, he’s vile. This is sad but I sure Lily is “Smiling” about all this.

Time to Criticize: Drake

Posted in Time to Criticize with tags on February 16, 2009 by soicalcritic

drakeI don’t even know what to say about Drakebecause first I knew him as the Jimmy from Degrassi then I saw the “Replacement Girl” video  and I officially had a Jones for him. But as far as I know, the single didn’t really do anything but “Brand New”was every skirts ringtone (myself included). But Jimmy done went and grew the hell up. And I ain’t mad at him.

Since he hooked up with Lil Wayne, Jimmy officially has died and Drake the legit artist has arrived. His much anticipated mixtape So Far Gone dropped last Friday. “Brand New”, which already has a following on it’s own following and “Uptown”are both on the mixtape. And just so you know, I thought that Trey Songz was supplying the vocals for “Brand New” but it’s Drake. Just thought I’d share that with you.

Chris Brown losing support

Posted in Time to Criticize with tags , on February 13, 2009 by soicalcritic

chris-brown-picture-1I told you this story is becoming a circus. So over at the Rap Basement, they are reporting that T.I. and Terrance Howard have taken back their statements of support and kindness for Chris Brown. When in the hell did T.I. become a “Big Bother” to hip hop? The only reason he’s putting on the show of a “changed man” is because that ass got caught and is about to do time. Looking back on my post about this Chris Brown Rhianna story, my “side” seems unclear. Allow me to clear it up, I feel for Rhianna I really do but I think she is needs to get some of this bad press too. Chris wasn’t the only one in that car nor relationship. I’ve never prayed for a celebrity (other than Aaliyah) but I will truly put and keep Chris in my prayers because this is some shit.

Personal Grammy highlights

SUN0522 AdeleI was very siked that Adele walked away with the best new artist. I’m sorry but I simply can’t feed into that Jasmine Sullivan hype (homegirl is NOT the Lauryn Hill, I repeat NOT Lauryn Hill). The British song bird also won best Pop (really?) female vocal performance. Some performances that I dug…

Swaggalike us (remix) –T.I. anf Kanye West, Jay Z, Lil Wayne and M.I.A plus her stomach

Okay Kanye and this Micheal Jackson natural hair is killing me softly (Fresh speak) and M.I.A’s overdue looking ass is causing me to shake my head by simply being on that damn stage.

Dead and Gone –T.I. and Justin Timberlake

Shockingly, I don’t have anything negative to say because T.I. has gotten a hell of a lot better with his stage performances. And of course Justin knew what he was doing on the ivory. But the roll call of the dead wasn’t my favorite.

Let’s stay together-Al green, Justin Timerlake, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban

It’s grade A to me
